Too West

Tuesday the wind was cranking out of the S in anticipation of the approaching front with mast high sets coming in at Vazon and down the line perfection...  The 'day of days' here in Guernsey! 4.7 and steady wind. Quite possibly the best session ever.

 Pulling into a section

In the soup

Yesterday I was able to get out for an hour or so. Wind was W with a lot of holes. The tide was dead low, super low. The tide slowly filled in, but unfortunately the wind didn't. Was windy when I turned up with plenty of whitecaps coming into the bay. Rigged my 4.7 and headed out planing onshore.  Waves were around chest high with the occasional head high. Wind threw in the towel around 4.30 and then went NW, looks like west coast thermals blow from 1 to 4 pm. Will keep that in mind for next time.  I had a really hard time out there. I guess I was tired from no sleep the night before and the early morning wake up for work but the wind was so gusty... Anyways, the stars did not align. But we got wet and out the back before the wind died. Shame because the waves were nice. Good to be out. I got a few good waves at the end of the session. I hope to sail better than that on the weekend.

Blow Away the Cobwebs

Even on the dullest of dull weather days, you can clear the cobwebs on the west coast. To watch the sea pound against the rocks revitalises even the most tired mind.  This is the stuff beloved of surfers. However, on windy days, the sea is much more violent and chaotic, time to break out the 4.2.
The wind was up and it's time to take the opportunity to blow away a few winter cobwebs in the surf. Wind was blowing from the west, piling up a few nice size waves. Clearly a good day to be out, the conditions were good enough for some serious airborne fun.
